Coming soon!

Because I just can't get enough of my voice... I am going to record my watching of Star Trek (the very first episodes). My friends give me crap due to my comments during watching. Then I have friends who give me crap for never watching Star Trek (seriously never I have only seen the J J Abrams movies and a few episodes of Next Generation. It was so bad I had no idea who Khan was or why he was so important). Anywho my lovely friends have challenged me to watch the first Star Treks and let me know what I think about them... But come on I'm Sarai for freak sakes I have to do something more then just tell people.

So I plan to record my thoughts while watching (I kind of do this with my reviews of TWD and Supernatural) this time however it will be a voice recording b/c hey somethings just don't translate well via typing. I am hoping to have this project up and running here soon. And I promise to only post one a week probably on Saturdays since I now have a career and wake up at the butt crack of day.

What do you think? Anyone want to join me on this Star Trek challenge? PS it's on Netflix streaming which is the only reason I am watching it ;)

Review ~ Hellblazer review pt. 2

Hellblazer volume 2 Feast of Friends

Who? Who are the major players and minor players?
Major players as of now:
Constantine
Papa Midnight
Mnemoth (hunger demon)
Emma (dead girlfriend who is now a ghost)

Minor players as of now:
Lester
a crap ton of ghost that haunt Constantine the night before he sacrifices Lester
A couple of overweight zombies

What? What is this story all about?
A demon is trapped in the body of a boy and a stupid man releases it into a bottle. Then it escapes and plagues the man and anyone who gets in its way. Feeding off of anger, fear, and of course food. Killing all it inhabits as they eat themselves to death.

When?
a few hours since we've landed in USA by the time we end this volume it has been a 2 days

Where? Does it take place.
United States

Why?
The demon is lose on the city and the citizens are turning on each other devouring everything. It has to be stopped before it takes over completely.

and How?
an exorcism that doesn't backfire

Summary thus far in vol. 2:
So we left off with Papa Midnight agreeing to help Constantine since Constantine was too weak to handle the demon on his own. In the hotel Constantine is haunted by a bunch of ghost the night before the big exorcism. The best I can tell is they are or rather were old friends of his that died in battle AKA exorcisms gone wrong. The Demon continues to grow throughout the night feeding off of people's desires and some really gross flesh eating UGH. Needless to say old Lester has to be the one that the demon goes in since he's the bloody idiot that let it out. Of course Constantine feels guilty about it and well there are ghost of Christmas' past involved and whatnot so that doesn't help with the guilt. It ends with a new story line and Lester dead with Constantine hungover and heading back over the pond.

Favorite Lines from vol. 2:
I have no words left. I'm shattered, a dead-man, a zombie, re-animated by a cold hand wound deep in my gut.
Gambling's a funny business kids, sometimes you lose!
Moring. Nice day for the race. What race? Hah. The Human Race. Sucker

FINAL GRADES:
DRAWINGS: B+ I think I am getting use to the newpaper quality of the drawings b/c they seemed to flow better. The use of color and lack of made the read interesting.
STORY LINE: B It wrapped it up nicely all the questions are tied up the only thing I had a problem with was the abrupt switch in story  line for the next volume. It didn't really fit in with this one and seemed very sudden.
CHARACTERS: A All the characters appeared to stay in character and did what I expected. I found myself feeling bad for Lester and Constantine. It was clearly apparent how the sacrifice made him feel and the guilt it added to him.

OVERALL GRADE: B+

Review ~ Hellblazer review pt. 1

Hellblazer volume 1 Hunger

Who? Who are the major players and minor players?
Major players as of now:
Constantine
Papa Midnight
Mnemoth (hunger demon)

Minor players as of now:
Lester
Emma (dead girlfriend who is now a ghost)
Shaman in Africa
Boy who carried Demon

What? What is this story all about?
A demon is trapped in the body of a boy and a stupid man releases it into a bottle. Then it escapes and plagues the man and anyone who gets in its way. Feeding off of anger, fear, and of course food. Killing all it inhabits as they eat themselves to death.

When?
Not sure there is a timeline

Where? Does it take place.
United States
Then home to England (from what I gathered)
Then off to Africa (Sudan)
Then back to the Good US of A

Why?
Entertainment LOL
No I'm not sure why the demon was released other then it called to Lester who couldn't help himself.

and How?
through an exorcism that backfires

Summary thus far in vol. 1:
Start off with John coming home from I believe the US he discovers a very high "friend Lester" and lots and lots of bugs. This journey takes him to Africa back the US in hopes of finding out how to defeat the Mnemoth the hunger demon. Along the way he runs into his ghost of a girlfriend Emma who was killed by a demon. After realizing he is not strong enough to defeat the demon he calls on the help of Papa Midnight whom from what I can tell is a zombie maker ;)

Favorite Lines from vol. 1:
Back in the flat, I'm Billy the Kid and Genghis Khan rolled into one. This is it, wildlife Armageddon for insects.
Why does primitive magic always hurt?
As the sun wobbles down onto the horizon, spilling its blood across the plain like a wounded animal

FINAL GRADES:
DRAWINGS: B they are rough giving almost a newspaper feel to them but lots of color and grit which fits the story line
STORY LINE: B interesting enough that I would've bought the next volume just to see if they can contain this particular demon. Didn't care for the bug part of it, but eh when one watches Supernatural you tend to get over things like that.
CHARACTERS: A  I thought all the characters were well fleshed out and while I still have questions about the minor characters I am not questioning them so much that I can't sleep. I do want to know more about Papa Midnight and I am curious about Emma but I am confident this will all come to light eventually
OVERALL GRADE: B+ I do recommend the first volume and think it has been worth my money so far.

ON This Christmas Eve

I give to you my mini-reviews of some fanfic... you know cause that's all I've read the past few days. Plus after dinner and gifts you can read these and feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Well I've done that, re-watched the LOTR trilogy, saw the hobbit, got the tree up, watched Revenge and My Name is Earl and well did a bunch of other crap that will not impress you... but back to the main point of this post mini-reviews of fanfic!

Alright first up is one done by my favorite Shep fanfic writers: Alone: done by SGAFan
Word Count: 27, 580
Mini Review: This one had the team, it had a mission, had a guessing game and of course it had John and some whump. It also had Elizabeth and well I think she had some worrying whump going on. It starts off with a dead child and a misunderstanding with the locals. Then goes to lightening and well lightening and a worm hole just don't mix. Add in and wound, a broken leg, and snow and well poor John just had a crappy time on his own. Yet it kept with the spirit of things it showed Carson's healing side, McKay's worried side, Ronon's best friend I must protect side, and Lorne was there as well. It also showed John's fighting side.
Best Part: Was the very beginning when they were playing the guessing game and Ronon talked about a Warat which is threw McKay's world off b/c it was an orange dog.
Overall: Was a longer read then I normal have done but worth it. I'm glad I didn't jump on board until it was complete she does tend to leave cliff hangers between chapters. I think it would've been a very interesting episode!

Next up: Cold Race done by the lovely SGAFan
Word Count: 13,936
Mini Review: My God this girl loves for Shep to have some whump to it HOLY CRAP. I seriously think she is trying to see how fast I can read and if I will have a heart attack before I finish. Alright this one starts off innocently enough until an explosion happens. John once again gets a broken leg, some broken ribs and this time add in metal to his shoulder. As if that wasn't bad enough he's trapped under rock and the water is rising. Once again the whole gang is present which is one of the things I love the most about this writer. She loves Shep, but she also realizes how important the team is to him and finds ways to include them.
Best Part: I love the parts between Rodney and John at the beginning (and I won't ruin the end) and at the end with the I've caught a cold scene.
Overall: Very heart pounding and worry intense but still a quick read. Not an easy one by any means but thankfully short enough that I was able to push through in one setting to make sure John of the outcome one expects from these things ;)

Next up: Of Coloring Books and Lt. Colonels done by Stealth Dragon
Word Count: 14,675
Mini Review: Wow I thought SGAFan did some damage to Shep. Man I was wrong she might beat him up a little but Stealth Dragon kicks the ever living crap out of him physically and psychologically as well as emotionally. HOLY CRAP I wasn't expecting such a serious read right before bed. It will teach me to read the summary before I pick one up again so close to sleepy time. Anyway the bases is Shep is tortured and is back on Atlantis. He is physically and psychologically damaged. He won't talk and no one knows what to do. Rodney won't leave his side and well Shep finds a coloring book. He doesn't allow anyone to look at until it's finished. Rodney doesn't get it until the end. And seriously wow this was heart wrenching.
Best Part: I have to say the end and no I won't give it away (YOU MUST READ IT) but I had a few tears when I read it.
Overall: Very hard to read but man it was a satisfying closure at the end.

Alright if you are looking for more great suggestions I have them you can head here, here, or here. These all came from round 2 done here. If you've read any and want to suggest them I'm game! All suggestions were made by the lovely @taris_eirien on twitter during her Fanfic Shep a day tweets!

Fanfic mini reviews

Okay well so far I have read 4 different SGA fanfics and as promised it's time for a mini review YAY

First up is: Adventures in Babysitting by Roo1965
Word count: 2,707 words
Mini Review: This one is SUPER cute and had the main character as John Sheppard with a guest appearance by Major Lorne, Dr. Rodney McKay and well others but those were the main peps LOL. Okay John is in charge of watching Torren (Teyla's child) and that means this takes place during season 5. All in all it was cute watching John try to manage a child and still be the Commander of Atlantis even going so far as to break up a fight between two Marines.
Best part: John changing a diaper while clarifying a misunderstanding between the 2 mentioned marines above. And it was a stinky one.
Overall: It was a super quick, cute read that showed a softer side of John and proved that he could've had a family and still done a great job as a military leader on Atlantis.

Next up is: Blindsighted by sgafan
Word count: 2400 words
Mini Review: This one is focused mainly on John and McKay with Carson thrown in b/c hey not only does he rock but he is also a Dr and well in this situation it was important. Also Elizabeth makes a short appearance. Basically we start off with John thinking he has a pulled muscle and turns out he's in more pain then he anticipated. But, his radio is too far to call for help. McKay is upset b/c John and him had a dinner date and well John is a hour late so he storms to John's room to find out what the heck is happening. When he finally gets in he sees John in a lot of pain and calls for the Dr. Turns out that John's appendix almost burst. But, no worries everyone he is okay ;-)
Best Part: I love any part where Rodney is nervous and not sure what will happen so when Rodney sees John on the floor and he's patting his shoulder, John tells him he's not a dog and McKay's response is to pull his hand away and tap his thigh. No idea why that was the best part to me but there you go.
Overall: Another great short, quick read that you can push through in between homework assignments! Plus it gives you a look at the friendship of McKay, the role of Carson, and hey how much pain John and put up with!

Next up is: Tight Spot by sgafan
Word Count: 9600
Mini Review: This one wasn't on the list of fanfic I gave you a few days ago but was on a master list given to me by sgafan. The reason I started with this one is due to having Lorne and John in it and well honestly my heart is split between these two characters. I Heart John but I also Heart Lorne lol so yay a fic with the 2 luck me! It starts off when Lorne who has crashed the jumper he and John were in. Now they have no power, they are sinking into a lake, and well Lorne is pinned and has a broken leg, ribs, and a concussion. John isn't as badly hurt but does have some injuries. To add insult to the whole damn thing the water is cold.
Best Part: I love when the boys find two weird fish swimming around them and they automatically go to Jaws and start talking about their favorite parts of the movie and which girl they liked better LOL definitely showed their personalities
Overall: Very tense read (b/c my gosh I knew they would be fine but damn girl did you have to break Lorne so much LOL) but, also very cool b/c we got to see their personalities alone with each other and how they bonded and become friends that can trust each other.

Last one for now: Just a Little Stomach Bug by titan5
Word Count: 11,200
Mini Review: first off the word count gave me pause LOL but that didn't stop me from reading this one. Okay at first I was hesitant b/c even though I know people on Atlantis get sick hadn't really put much into it like the fact that flu probably does happen and the fact of picturing John on the toilet puking and well doing the other end of stuff didn't really appeal to me but, turns out it makes for a very funny storyline. Seriously with friends like his team who needs enemies. Sheppard's got diaper rash LOL. But, then it went all serious I went from laughing hysterically to OMG Shep can't die in fanfic can he? OMG but even in the seriousness of the situation the Frankly conversation had me rolling again!
Best Part: John comes out of the bathroom after being SUPER sick and McKay ask what died in there? Seriously nearly spit pop up everywhere on the computer very fun and something I can see McKay saying. Also love when Ronon thinks John has a literal bug in his stomach LOL
Overall: Oh my still wiping the tears from my eyes. Very cute, very funny and something I needed instead of homework so THANK YOU!!

Man you guys love your John Sheppard don't you ;-) and apparently so do I. So thank you for the recs I plan to read a bunch more that were sent to me if you have any additional suggestions I am game for it! And to end this lovely review post here's another pic of Shep Vegas style
And in the meantime let's all remember where we parked ;0) which happens to be my desktop wall paper...
