#PLL Season 5 thoughts and randomness

Things I don't like about this season of PLL

1) I hate how hard they are coming down on Hanna. Like Emily never got drunk Season 3 or like Aria never lied (EZRA) or let's not forget all the crap that Ali did to you girls like hold your secrets over your heads. Or Aria blackmailed your father, created a fake break up yadda yadda yadda?!?

2) Ali and Emily hooking (WHAT?!?!?) seriously did we have to go there?

3) Caleb dude get over it you fell in love with a ghost that is like the same things as me falling in love with your character it didn't really happen and it's not worth wasting the rest of my life moaning about how you won't return my calls or that it didn't work out.

4) This whole story twist and plot it's done get over it. I never bought that Shauna was A so tell who the real A is and let's move on for freak sakes (and yes I just re-watched the whole series there is no way that girl is A)

5) How in the world do we forgive Ezra so easily?! Serious I buy that he is more A than Shauna ever was.

6) Jenna can see, the new girls a spy, and Mona is going after Ali (been there done that really are we recycling plot lines again?)

7) Why in Gods name is Ali all whinny and needy get over it you brought half this shit on yourself for being a horrible human being. Did you deserve what happened to you? No but you are still doing the same shit everyday. Like IDK making fun of your friends, holding their secrets over their heads, making people lie for you, manipulating people, calling them by their nicknames etc. At this point I would be extremely happy if A did manage to kill her.

8) And let us not forget that at some point in the last 4 seasons each of them has stated that they wonder what their lives would've been like without Ali in it or they wish they had never met her. I mean come on everyone thought Spencer is the one that killed her even Ali thought that.

Questions:
What the frack happened to Holden?
Who was that damn ghost kid on the Halloween Special Season 3?
Also so if Ezra was spying that much on the girls how did he not know that Aria had contacted his ex and had a kid?
Why did we kill Garrett seriously it's not as if Aria's father did it?
If Wildon killed Garrett with Melissa then what the hell is Melissa up to and why the frack won't she tell Spencer?
Where did Holbrook go?
Please for the love of God answer questions for once instead of adding more to them...
Why did we forgive Toby for being on the A team and why didn't he know anything other than Mona? And why the frack doesn't Mona know who was after A? Or did she know all along it was Shauna who was pulling her strings (which I don't believe)
Also if Mona and Jenna are working together than did Jenna really love Shana and knew that she would die or what? I mean what's up with that?

Side rant: Why have these girls not taking some serious (not date your instructor) self defense classes?

To Binge or Not to Binge that is the question

Binge... such a dirty little word or at least it was until Netflix came along...

So I was Binge watching (cause you know I do that all the stinking time) Arrow currently (yes I never watched this crack when it was on 2 years ago and still going strong. I'm trying to catch up before season 3 and the spin off Flash) anyway I digress...

Do you binge watch? Or do you tend to just indulge in 1 episode at a time?

Those of you that binge watch do you ever find yourself getting burned out on it? Or for example skipping around during the show b/c that particular story line is boring to you?

I have found on certain shows there is a reason that the networks give you a week between each. On some shows if you watch all of them at once you will start seeing glaring plot holes or eye roll moments that you would've totally bi-passed had you waited a week between. For example on TWD (The Walking Dead) there are some serious OMG, OMFG, EW and UGH moments that I normally wouldn't have been so Oh God this again? And what the hell was the point of that? Are we going for gore factor here? Had I say, watched them weekly instead of binge watching them for 2 weeks.

In fact I can't think of a single show I was like the above picture when I binged watched unless I was just catching up on 1 season. Like PLL (Pretty Little Liars) I watched season 4 in like a week to watch season 5 and I found with that show that I was like... where the frack is the next episode? Now however, I am caught up and I am wondering why I liked this show so much? Was it simply the binge factor so I was so hooked on the "mystery" of A that I had to know what would happen next or was the show that good and is slumping off?

I am finding with Arrow that I am doing more of the fast forwarding and the "oh I don't like those 2 together so I will skip that" "Oh sure Sara's alive yeah right fast forward" due to watching all of season 1 in like 2 days.

So I guess my questions are:
Do you Binge watch?
If you do how long to do you do it (a whole season, a whole catchup set)?
Do you get bored with a show or annoyed with one when doing a binge watch?
Are there certain shows that are better for Binge watching like say Scandal, PLL, Revenge (due to the mystery or thriller background)?
And am I seriously the only one who does?

Come on was there any doubt that this would be my answer? I mean my gosh you would think I was a teenage girl the way I act when this show comes on.

Got a secret can you keep it? Yeah this is mine I finally gave up trying to pretend and started looking outward for ANYONE to talk to about this show I heart it that much. My friends think I'm crazy, my bestie claims this is why I don't have a man, and my co-workers think its awesome that I love something so stupid (FYI IT'S NOT STUPID ASSBUTTS) anywho I still want to know who the freak is A (and no I don't buy the season  5 answer it doesn't make sense). So there you go. Anyone else like this show?! Anyone wanna be PLL besties?!?! Anyone....

Emily's been shipped off to Iowa to live with her uberconservative cousins. Aria's boyfriend is behind bars-because of her. Spencer's afraid she was involved in Ali's murder. But Hanna's fate is far worse: She's clinging to life in the hospital because she knew too much. If these girls don't start listening to me, Hanna's going to look like the lucky one.

Did it flow with the last volume was it a connection story or did it just start a new story with same characters? Yeah actually it really did. It picked up right where we left off and ran with it. There were a lot of pieces to try and fit together, but the author did a fantastic job of doing that.

What is this story about? It is about 4 girls who lost their BFF in 7^th grade and now someone is harassing them with all their dirty little secrets

When is this story taking place? Junior year of high school

Where are we at during this story? Rosewood High and neighborhood

Why is the character acting the way he is or why is this happening? The girls are trying to figure out who A is and navigate through the roughest prep school ever. Add to that they have the CRAPPIEST parents known to man.

How does it get resolved (SPOILERS MAY BE INCLUDED)

A is dead
The liar's lives seem to be going back to normal

Will there be another? yes

Favorite part or line from story:

I have to say the part with Hanna and Lucas are really cute and I think this might be the relationship that the show uses for Haleb (Hanna + Caleb)

Overall thoughts:

HOLY CRAP. Well shitballs I didn't see this coming and I really, really want to go into the differences between this and the show. Needless to say I guess in the books

SPOILER ALERT

Toby is freaking dead for good. That was as shocker. Jenna knew what Ali was going to do and planned it with her b/c Toby was molesting her WTF?! Then as if that wasn't enough Mona is A (which she was in the show so no shocker there) but in the books SHE FREAKING DIES she's dead seriously and yet there is still another A OMFG as if that wasn't enough Hanna's mom is moving to SINGAPORE seriously?! so Hanna now has to live with her dad and horrible step everything. Aria's mom finally realized what she did was HORRIBLE and freaking Meredith is prego with Aria's new 1/2 sibling MIND BLOWN.

Needless to say this book kept me up WAY past my bedtime

FINALGRADES:
Plot/Story: A this one blew my freaking mind

Character Development: B the girls are still making the same damn mistakes and yet they seem to be learning from them
Emotional Reaction: A there were a lot of OMG did she? No she didn’t? Freaking A she did? How in the hell is that going to work? Moments.

Final Grade: A

Would you recommend this story? Sure if you like to read about drama but I for sure wouldn’t let girls younger than 15 read it.

Is this a part of a reading challenge? No.

Okay I absolutely hate to think of it like this but DANG YO I actually got sucked into this one. I mean reading til 2 am kind of sucked into. The storyline is finally moving at a very quick pace. I think I know who A is (solely based on the show) but I can see how they got there maybe. I loved, loved, loved that Ezra got what happens to you when you sleep with a minor (again I have always hated that storyline and think it sends the wrong message so send hate to my twitter). I absolutely HATE the parents of all the girls in this book. OMG on TV they are all likeable and while the parents might do something wrong it is always in the best interest of the girls never to hurt them. But Ella kicking Aria out of the freaking house with no where to go but here boyfriend’s place is just ridiculous I mean hotline that bitch seriously. YOU CAN”T DO THAT IF YOU ARE REALLY THAT PISSY ABOUT YOUR HUSBAND CHEATING ON YOU AND YOUR 7^th GRADE DAUGHTER NOT TELLING YOU THEN LEARN TO GROW UP!!!!! Anyway let me move pass this I mean my gosh. The book was really good and I can see that it is like the show and yet wow so not like the show which is refreshing at times.

FINALGRADES:
Plot/Story: B I think the author is fantastic to be able to keep all the lies, secrets, and girl’s backgrounds straight. Hell I’m starting to think A is Sara Shephard ;)

Character Development: B the girls are starting to grow up. They are still making bad choices but at least they are semi-thinking them through.
Emotional Reaction: A there were a lot of OMG did she? No she didn’t? Freaking A she did? How in the hell is that going to work? Moments.

Final Grade: B+

Would you recommend this story? Sure if you like to read about drama but I for sure wouldn’t let girls younger than 15 read it.

This week's Page to Screen is another TV show... shocked yeah I know...

We are going to compare and contrast Pretty Little Liar's books vs. the show before the big premiere of the 5th season!!!!!

And now the review of the show
Personally I am an addict with the freaking show. I admit to the full that I am a Haleb fan hardcore then he went and blew it in freaking Ravenswood (don't get me started on how he blew it) anywho. I also really enjoy Spoby ship as well.
Otherwise my mean complaints are the teacher/student relationship (send hate mail to my twitter) I just never felt comfortable with the relationship from the get go. Anytime you have to rely on everyone you know to lie on you to keep a secret about your relationship you know it is a BAD thing.
Any who for some reason I still felt sorry for the girls. I actually thought it was all about bullying and while the girls set themselves up a lot and I do mean a lot they were teenagers and those teenagers didn't know any better. So for the TV show I felt bad for everyone of the girls but the books EH I felt that each of them deserved it.
Also the parents in the show are by far a TON times better whereas in the books the parents are just as horrible as the girls if not worse. Man I just didn't know what to think about it. The girls are bad but not so bad that I think they deserve anything. That being said I think the first 2 books might still be in season 1 so as things progress in both the books and the show I might change my mind. Anyway at this time I would say that I prefer the show to the books by far.

Side related rant:
I do not understand why these girls have to kiss everyone as a thank you! Seriously between Aria and Hanna there is more random guy kissing then I've ever seen in everyday life. No one does that even with good friends.

Well I love the show and thought reading the books would help my addiction... it has not

THOUGHTS/OPINION:

Bare with me b/c the show and the books are starting to run together. The difference of course was talked about in the last review so I will attempt to not beat a dead horse. This one is interesting b/c there are a lot more characters in play and MY GOD Melissa is EVIL... holy crap. That being said my gosh I just have no empathy for these girls any of them. I feel sort of bad for Hanna (which I felt bad for her in the very beginning so I assume that I would feel the same way with the books). The plot is the same, the girls are meaner then the show, the world is crueler then the show, and wow they aren't lying when they say the girls have been very bad. We did learn the "Big" secret of what happened that all of them believe would ruin their lives (teenagers I tell ya) any who not as big as I thought. Things did move faster in the book then they do on the show which is weird and yet not.

Toby is dead like a body dead which I think might not be true but dang y'all if it is that changes the books dramatically!

Any way the book is moving fast enough that I find reading 100 pages and then blinking wondering where the heck my life went. Still good enough to continue though just to see if the spoiler is true or fake based on show I'm going with fake but eh you never know.

Are you keeping it or passing it on? Still going to pass on it. Nothing I want to read again. Unlike the show which makes me want to buy all the seasons.

Goodreads grade: I think I gave this one 4 stars due to the fact you still get sucked in even if it is due to watching a train wreck happen.

Would you recommend this book? I'm still debating I love the show but think the books my be too much for some of the younger teenagers that I normally suggest books to.

THOUGHTS/OPINION:

I'm a little mixed on my thoughts so I will try to hammer them out a little bit. First off I'm a total nerd for the show. I think it is exciting, engrossing, and in it's own way heart wrenching. The books not so much they are almost what I would deem pure evil... They show such an ugly side of the girls that I have grown to love. They are rich, pampered, spoiled, beyond pretty, unloved by parents, hated by each other and other kids, and MY GOD THEY DESERVE everything they get so far. I did not feel this way about the show. For some reason I connected more with the girls on the show b/c they showed me their softer side and boy am I glad cause otherwise this would've been one sick show.
Second I feel kind of dirty reading these books. I mean on the show of course you learn their "deep dark secrets" but in the books the secrets are deep and dark and very similar and yet the girls react differently in the books. Almost like they are cleaned up for TV?! You read that right the girls are nicer, sweeter, innocent and decent on TV put them in the books and DAMN there were a few times I was like "well if you screw every boy that is nice to you or buys you a drink when your underage and then screws you in the bathroom you can't be surprised when he wants nothing to do with you later." "Well if you screw your sisters boyfriend don't be surprised that after you spread your legs he's done with you"... my goodness. WORSE Part are the parents. Hating their own children for not being perfect robots. It's weird almost like Gossip Girl without the love from the parents...

THINGS I LIKED:
I do like being in their heads more. There is only so far that a TV show can tell you wants going on in the thinking processes. Here the books actually allow you to see what the thoughts are behind it. 

Love seeing how the girls are so protective of their thoughts because of stuff that happened with Ali

I do enjoy seeing more of the evil family life and the different take on school. The girls aren't sympathetic at all so having horrible families makes me actually want to feel bad for them. 

The school is WAY cooler in the books then in the TV show and the books help to show us why $ and prestige is so important in this neighborhood. I don't really get that from the TV show

It is just different enough from the show it keeps me interested. 

THINGS I DIDN'T LIKE:
I kind of mentioned them above: The girls are down right evil at times

They kind of deserve what is happening which in the long run I guess makes more sense

There is absolutely no support for the girls

There are a HECK of a lot more siblings in Emily's family then the TV show

Are you keeping it or passing it on? 

I am going to give it away. Reading it once was good enough for me. Now that being said I would recommend it to higher aged school girls like 17 or so but not really for the age group I wanted to suggest it to.

Reviewing Next: Sadly even though I complained a lot about it Ms. Shepard got me hooked so I will be reviewing and reading Flawless next.

Curse you #PLL AKA Pretty Little Liars

Curse this freaking show seriously! It is my last year of grad school and yet I am hooked on this WONDERFULLY SUSPENSFUL FULL OF TWISTS, TURNS, AND BEAUTIFUL OUTFITS... NOT TO MENTION MEN SHOW.

Gawd help me I am not even freaking caught up yet. I am only mid-way through Season 3 and yet I find that I can't help but snatch an episode here or there. To sneak one in as I am reading abnormal, eating, or heck at this point showering LOL. I hate that I am addicted to this show and the twist then to add to it now we have a spin freaking off with my favorite character Caleb! OMG I don't need this. Seriously I can't possibly focus on graduation or finals or papers with this show! UGH!

So yes I say curse them and yes I have a CRAP TON of Questions, but since the PLL fan club is a little cray cray I won't ask b/c they tend to spoil shit for you without truly meaning to <3. Needless to say as I watch episodes I post them over on the https://twitter.com/SaraiNerdingOut (all the shows I talk about during the airing AKA when I watch them I tweet there about to not annoy the normal people who don't give a crap and follow me on my other twitter page) or you can follow me on Get Glue I think my name is Saraileeb

Otherwise until I can fully wrap my beautiful little head around this show there is not hope in GOD that I could ever explain it without giving it away. I am also positive there is a Wiki page somewhere out there for this lovely mind blowing show!
