The First Commandment

Oh yeah I'm cranking them out!!! Okay we are on episode 6 The First Commandment and so far one of my least favorite *shrug* you can't win them all.

Okay so it's night time on the planet and we see two men running in from men in grass skirts, spears, weird looking masks, and blow guns which is not cool. Turns out the bad guy our guys are running from use to be a good guy (AKA our guy) but something has happened to him. So b/c our guy ran the bad guy shoots him just like that and see that the other guy has gone through the stargate.

So SG1 comes through the gate some odd hours later to figure out what happened. What they discover is that the main guy running in the opening scenes didn't make it through in fact he stayed behind hoping someone would come and he could explain what happened.

Needless to say everyone agrees to go find out why the mad man went mad. Basically Capt. Jonas Hanson has convinced the natives of this planet that he is truly their God and they should do what he says. During the night the guy who managed to escape is caught and tied to the stakes b/c the UV rays are out of this world on this planet.

Okay so Carter thinking she is a badass decides to go and talk to Hanson b/c she used to be engaged to him. She determines that he is indeed insane and draws a pistol on him with no intention of ever shooting him which just irks the crap out of me. Never draw a weapon on someone unless you plan on using it. So he takes her weapon and smacks her which she deserves.

Alright in the mean time Jack gets captured and is told he will be killed as they are doing this Daniel and Teal'c discover the second machine that Hanson intends to use to create a shield and they turn the tables on him by turning it on before he can. Jack is saved and all is well b/c Hanson is killed and the people live peacefully forever.

Grade:
C (mainly b/c Carter irked the shit out of me acting all tough when she's not)

Lesson learned: the saying absolute power corrupts absolutely appears to be true so watch it.

Cold Lazarus

Alright on to episode 7 - Cold Lazarus

Jack has obviously recovered from his aging bout and is now on a desert like planet with tons of blue crystal rods that look as if they've been smashed. Everyone in the crew spreads out and begins to explore. Jack decides to touch one of the Crystals (big mistake this was also another storyline they recycled on Atlantis with Sheppard) He is blown back and knocked out. Then we see another Jack standing over him looking at him weird.

The fake Jack who shall forever be called FJ in the rest of this review heads back to Earth with the rest of the crew. The FJ changes and even their clothes are funny I mean I can't believe we wore pants up to our belly buttons with our shirts tucked in but here is the proof.

This show tells us about Jack's past and lets us know that even Carter doesn't know this information. While FJ goes off to find Charlie (who we learn is Jack's son that killed himself with Jack's weapon although if you've watched the movie before this then you would've already known that anyway FJ doesn't know that Charlie is gone for good) This is when we get to Sara which I had hoped would be a little prettier b/c hey she has my name. But alas no that doesn't happen.

Anyway the team determines that the G'uld were the ones responsible for the destruction of the crystals and the crystals actually talk (hold the phone yeah that's what I said the crystals talk) Meantime the real Jack returns pissed off that the team left without him. They are shocked that he is there.

Meanwhile FJ is talking to Sarah about what he can do then Sarah admits she was angry with him but b/c he wasn't talking. Then FJ collapses looking as if he was being shocked. So Sarah races him to the ER. On the other hand the crew is racing to the same ER hoping to get there before the crystal AKA FJ explodes.

When they get there the FJ turns into Charlie. Jack and Sarah get to say goodbye as Jack takes Charle AKA FJ AKA crystal back to its planet. And discovers that FJ only did what he did to save his kind.

Well that was it LOL

Lesson Learned: Don't touch shit on any planet unless you know what it is and what it will do!
Grade: B I didn't really dislike it but it wasn't the best.

Brief Candle

Another brief review from SG-1 This time we are on Brief Candle - Episode 9 for those of you keeping track...

Okay so we open with a guy in a temple praying for help when suddenly the gate opens and here comes our cast of heroes... er to the rescue... er which turns out to mean helping with the birth of a child. They all turn to Carter who can't help "What don't look at me I don't know what to do" kind of just b/c I'm a woman doesn't mean I know what to do in this situation...

Turns out we don't need to panic b/c Daniel Jackson has delivered 1 baby and what do ya know they name it after him. This of course leads to a party outside where the crew finds themselves surrounded by beautiful people.

"Do things feel a little off here?" Jack ask right before he is seduced by a beautiful woman. How is he seduced well she offers him cake that only he can eat and then she dances for him. Somehow Jack in a drugged induced stupor decides to sleep with her. This all seems like a typical Saturday night for me and reminds me of a Firefly episode where Capt. Reynolds marries a native without knowing it. This is exactly what happens to Jack. (SO MORAL LESSON MEN: Don't eat or drink from foreign women unless you are very familiar with the customs are just don't care that you picked yourself up a bride).

Anyway the crew discovers that each person on the beautiful island falls dead asleep at night only to awaken at dawn. And they only get 100 days... yep you read that right 100 days to party and live their lives. The problem with this is, Jack has already lived beyond the 100 days so he begins to age rather quickly. And can I just add that he doesn't take aging well in fact he is down right crappy about it.

Seeing what is happening the team tries to figure out what is going on. They determine that the G'ould used these people as lab rats and placed nanobots AKA replicators in their bodies to help with the aging process. (this is important in the story line later in both the SG1 and Atlantis but we shall leave it for now) Oh here's a side note I use nano technology in my hair straightener

Alright back to the show Jack begins to age very rapidly and not well I might add. He becomes bitter and cranky and yada yada yada... Finally Jack gets over his anger at dying and decides to live his life happy with the girl he married which means basically he walks with her and tells her about life on his planet. That's when they discovered the statue that Jack destroyed was what kept the replicators replicating (say that five times fast) When the rest of the crew return back they help to set the dial thingy back to normal and Jack well we assume since he's in the next 7 season returns to normal YEAH!!! Oh and all these people begin to live normal lives b/c the way they were living wasn't good enough to the SG1 team so they had to change it and prove that living long is SO MUCH better and with Jack as a shinning example who wouldn't want to live longer.

Lesson Learned: Don't eat anything given to you by a strange woman or man until you know the customs of that planet/culture. There's nothing worse then finding out your married and not know it.

Grade: C I actually hated this story line and wish I could put my finger on why but the older I get the less and less I like this one.

The Broca Divide

First review up and I'm starting with episode 5 b/c the genius that I am sent back my disc 1 to netflix instead of their disc 5 of Stargate Atlantis and now I'm stuck with 2 disc one of which I don't need.
Anyway this is The Broca Divide review....

This one was hard for me to review and I have a feeling all of Stargate is going to be this way. The reason: the technology is old (this was filmed in the late 90's) the special effects are nothing like they are now. The writing while it has it moments really does come across as cheesy as it is. And well you will either love the show or hate it. I happen to love it based on the characters and their chemistry alone. So keep that in mind as this review goes on b/c there aren't a lot of good things I can say about it.
We always start off on a planet or at the home base in Colorado. Of course this time we are in CO. discussing if they should go on a planet or not. A planet they have named P3X279 which Daniel Jackson happens to suggest they come up with better names for the planet and I happen to agree. However, Daniel and I are the only ones who think like this. They are debating if they should go to this planet b/c its well dark and their robot hasn't shown them any signs. So they have no idea what or whom they will be walking in on. Jack (played by Richard Dean Anderson AKA MacGyver for you 80's fans) doesn't like walking in on a situation he isn't sure what will be waiting for him but he isn't going to let the Marines go first.

***Sidenote: all throughout the 10 seasons of this show they call out Chevron 1 encoded, Chevron 2 encoded, ect. up to chevron 7 it drives me batty)***

Anyway the crew goes through and sure enough its dark and although we can see movement we have no idea what is going on (we are looking through night visions) Well whatever they are attacks and it turns out they are cavemen with clubs. We survive so no worries there folks. The group witnesses an almost rape where Samantha (AKA Amanda Tappings whom I happen to enjoy a lot more in Sanctuary a whole hell of a lot more then her role as Capt. Samantha "Sam" Carter) decides she is not going to sit by and watch this. Thankfully they are saved from interferring by people clothed in all white.
Again the team is mistaken for Gods b/c only Gods can travel through the gate. This actually makes sense to me which is strange b/c a lot of this show doesn't. Like the fact that every planet they go on everyone speaks English it's amazing LOL. Plus every planet looks like Canadia.

Anyway they do manage to give every planet a different culture and timeline that exists on Earth at some point or is far beyond Earth's technology so at least things are mixed up. This time period is the Minoan time period that worships bulls and dresses really strage (like the men wear belly shirts strange) Anyway they explain the "touched" vs. the "untouched" thought process. Those who are touched are cursed to look and act like animals so they are sent to the woods.

Jack decides that they are done here and there is no reason for them to remain. However, both Daniel and Sam think they should stay. Back at home base the argue the point which it turns out is really pointless b/c the General and the President agrees with Sam and Daniel. Until....

A couple of the men that went on the mission start fighting, then Sam attacks Jack in a totally Sexual OMG she so going to rape him way, then Jack attacks Daniel and suddenly the whole base is acting like animals. Except for Daniel and Teal'c who seem to not have contracted the disease. Oh that and the doctor Fraiser which is just beyond handy LOL.

Okay so now Daniel and Teal'c go back to the world to figure out what causes this and Teal'c loses Daniel to the "touched" but manages to get the blood sample from one of the "untouched"
Dr. Fraiser manages to discover that the "untouched" take clarinton D (not really but basically they have antihistamine in their system something the "touched" don't have) So a cure is found and Jack is given the cure.

They head back b/c Teal'c admits that he lost Daniel Jackson. When they get there we discover that the almost raped woman has now turned and apparently Daniel is her mate which leads Jack to say my favorite quote from the episode "Daniel you dog, keep this up and you'll have a girl on every planet" (this will all make sense the more I review b/c Daniel is hot and well all the alien women love him)

So they shoot Daniel with the cure and show the "untouched" their cure and all the families are reunited. And you have the end!

Grade:
Story: gets a B (mainly b/c of the Clariton D issue if it had been something cooler I would've given it an A)

Lesson Learned: Always take allergy medicine before heading to another planet.

Day 2 of Chi Con!

So started the day off with the lovely Torri Higginson

Then moved on to da boys Alex Zahara and Dan Payne... we got them twice! Plus I had a breakfast with them... no pics, but eh these should make up for it.

After these two lovely men we had the other set of LOVELY boys out to play... Joe Flanigan and David Hewlett!!! Again they would not sit still to save their lives... I swear

I'm not sure what David had said but the above photo is so stinking funny I had to include it.

Awww Kate Hewlett interrupted the show for a hug... how freaking cute!

These two just couldn't stop cracking themselves up. I have so many blurry pictures b/c they were laughing so hard at something the other had said.

Ben Browder was also this day, but alas I took a crap ton of him as well which means that I don't have time to post them all tonight. So part 2 of Day 2 will continue tomorrow.
